The Classics, The Blacks & All Kinds of Sexy

You can never go wrong with the classics. By that I am referring to a vintage necklace, pierced earrings, classy ring and statement bracelet… oh, and all in black. It’s about the color. You know those days where you wake up late to work and the first thing that comes to your mind is a “Oh damn i’m late, i’ll just wear anything.” Coincidently, most of the time that “anything” happens to be black.

Why black? In fashion, black is the most fitting color. When you don’t necessarily feel great in your skin, or you’re emotionally – busy – black becomes a gateway. It’s as if it’s a shield, behind which you safely hide and unleash every thought. It fits all moods, all bodies and mostly all days.

In retrospect, black is also the most chic color. Heading out to a nice dinner: for some reason, indecision becomes the highlight of the pre-dinner state of mind. Tops, pants, skirts and dresses all land on the bed. And between bedroom, living room and makeup set you seriously lose track of time and the decision? A nice silk little black dress, or a black top, jeans and black shoes. Classy, elegant and attractive, but all the while, black. You’ve got to have The Little Black Dress, that one dress that suits you perfectly, that brings confidence with every step and poise with every smile.

Between the classy and the laid back, comes in the sporty and bad-ass type of black. The attractive vigilante or cat woman wearing the tightest black you could ever imagine. Every hero is dressed in black, well, mostly, Batman, Cat-Woman, Shadow Hunters, Vampire hunters etc…

You seriously can’t go wrong with this color. From suit to swimwear… From outfit to accessories, black has proven itself in the fashion industry as the most basic and wanted color. For all ages, all moods, black inspires both the happy and the sad. When paired with a dashing lipstick color, you are really swinging for the irresistible definition.

A lipstick with bright tones and colors versus. a lipstick with dark shades and shadows literally categorizes how your black will look like. A deep red, means a sexy black, a bright fuchsia gives a sunny black… a nude beige gives a confusing/intriguing black.

After all, movies, the classics, were all in black and white and they inspire today, like yesterday, producers, poets and writers of all genres… It is only normal for black today, to inspire yet again, fashion, accessories and moods. After all, take a look at your closet, what’s the overarching color?

  1. HI there! I am looking for gorgeous black dresses for my bridesmaids, and I can’t find the right materials, structure, and level of sophistication anywhere! Can you share where the gala black dress and vintage black dress from this post are? I would love help and references! Google searching just isn’t enough. Thank you!

    1. Hi Fajr! I assume you’re talking about the pencil black dress?
You can find a few choices on the following websites:

      http://www.asos.com/Women/Dresses/Pencil-Dresses/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=13935 http://www1.macys.com/shop/b/pencil-dress/Pageindex,Productsperpage/1,40?id=72653

Also, if you still can’t really find the perfect look, I suggest that you combine a high waist pencil skirt, with a matching top of the same color. You might want to accessorize it with a belt, but that would depend on the type of skirt.

I hope this helps! Let me know if it works out! M.
